Cereal, spit and squeals, oh my

It's hard to believe that Liam is already 5 1/2 months old . . . it seems like yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital. These past few weeks have been particularly exciting for us. On February 1, Liam started eating cereal (or wearing it would be a better description). On the very first day, he was so excited that he grabbed the spoon right out of my hand. Unfortunately, it wasn't because he's such a skilled eater. No, Liam just thought he found a new toy to chew on. Now, each night is an endless battle to get the food from the bowl to his mouth before he can grab the spoon from my hand. We're really looking forward to starting foods with color. Liam also started making raspberries and other spit-induced noises. And these spit-sessions often coincide with high-pitched squeals and screams. They're especially fun for us when they occur during dinner time. Nothing like getting a big, wet blob of cereal spit in your face.

We have truly enjoyed this first phase of parenthood and can't wait to see what comes next. Of course, we hope that whatever new adventures come our way, they will be accompanied by a little more sleep at night. We'll keep you posted.
